It depends really. If I was a Man Utd fan I would have absolutely loved that game but, personally, when it was 4-0 at half time I was far more interested in how Chelsea were doing, particularly as they were 1-0 down. The Man Utd game was more enjoyable than exciting I suppose.

Ah, I suppose. But that's surely splitting hairs a bit? You'd rather Man U had won 2-1 and by the skin of their teeth (or however it needed to pan out for goal aggregate, I forget)?

...It's a bit like that Argentina game in the World Cup, where they totally outclassed whoever it was with that 24 passes goal or however many it was. Because Man U were sooooo good, it was less of a match than the Chelsea game... weird.

But after 3 goals the game was over.
I'm not taking anything away as it was a class performance.
But the word exciting doesn't sum it up for me.

Its hard to put accross an unbiased view, but the Roma game was something special and i find it hard to believe any real footbal fans couldnt have been excited by that.
Yeah, it wasnt a tense finale, but it was just some of the greatest football ive ever seen. We would have destroyed any team that night.
But aye, like i said, im biased. But, i love football and i can honestly say Chelsea very rarely excite me with good football. Theyre the best at grinding results out, but doesnt always make for top football.
Anyway, were never gonna agree on this. Some of you will always hate UTD regardless. Thats the way it is.

Just out of interest. Anyone seen the Team of the year? So Ronaldo wins both awards and 8 players in team of the year.
Yep, were crap.

Based on league positioning by the look of it. No Gareth Barry, Steve Finnan, Matty Taylor, Fabregas, David James to name a few. Utter bollocks.

Its voted for by the players themselves isn't it? No better judge surely?
I thought the 7-1 game was exciting as a Man United fan because firstly, it shows English football is doing so much better than it used to be. The fact is, in that team against Roma, United fielded 9 British players, 6 English. Don't get me wrong, I know that Ronaldo was integral to that night but it just made me excited that an English based team, unlike your Chelsea's and Arsenal's, where you could count the influencial British players on one hand between them, were doing so well. Especially against world cup winners...
And I know some of you are Scottish, but Darren Fletcher was Uniteds best player that night.
It also made me excited because Roma epitomise the kind of football seeping into the country. Hit long balls, shoot from range, grab a goal, defend defend defend. And Untied proved that style and class could win that over. If United chose to defend after grabbing one goal, what a sorry sight that would have been.

Finnan and Taylor arent even guarenteed first picks for thier clubs anymore. James is quality shot stopper, but still unreliable. Barry is above average at best. Fabergas is class and must have been close. Its all about opinions. For this season, Foster, Richards, Essien are a few stand out names for me that didnt make it. Youll never be able to please everybody, but the players have to be good judges. Regardless of what you think of some of them, theyre playing aginst each other week in week out, year after year. So reckon they know a bit.

Then how come only Reina, Gerrard and Carragher have started more games than Finnan?? Id say thats a first team regular.
David James KNOWN to be unreliable in the past HAS been outstanding this season.
Gareth Barry above average at best? Nearly double figures for goals and lots of assists for a struggling club.
Im not saying the Ronaldo's, Scholes's etc aren't great players, they are, but the league table shows how well they are doing, lets praise the un-sung great footballers for once.
Im not just arguing with what you say cos you're a red Blake, you clearly nto your football but like i said it would be nice for the players for lower teams to get recognition.
Remember Matt Le Tiss, fucking genius, but only a couple of Englands caps. We all know why.

Carvalho, Agger and Lescott.
All better than Ferdinand this season.
David James better than any other keeper in the league this season.
Arteta, Lampard & Essien. Best 3 consistant midfielders this season alongside Giggs & Ronaldo.
Here is my Scottish view of Fletcher - absolute pish. Consistantly posted missing in a Scotland jersey. Makes you wonder what players like Barry Ferguson, James McFadden & Scott Brown would look like with World Class players around him week in week out.
I love a good old soccer debate i do!

and really Le Tiss was kept out by the likes of Barmby, McManaman, Batty, Ince, Ferdinand, Sherringham so the whole arguements flawed anyway

I think Finnan started the season as first choice, but Arebola seems to be at least pushing him. I may be wrong, i get confused with Rafas rotation sometimes. James has been much better this season, but i still think hes missing something. He's a fantastic athlete and shot stopper, but still drops clangers, just he's got away with them this season, so its not as high profile. Barry is ok, maybe i was bit harsh. But no way he's had a better season than Giggs this season. I agree that certain players will get overlooked and its easy to just pick from the top 4/5 clubs.
Blair, Lampard had an average season. If he doesnt score he hasnt contributed much. I think Essiens been one of the players of the season, at Right back or in Midfield, I wish Chelsea hadnt nabbed him. Carvaliho. Mmmm, hes ok same with Lescott, not better than Rio in my opinion. Artetta has looked good for Everton, thats a decent shout. But still not sure hed get in.
I cant be totally objective here, im trying, but i would say, Vidic, Scholes, Giggs and Ronaldo had to be in that team. Evra has come on leaps and bounds this season and i think could well deserve that spot. Neville has been Neville. Still the best right back we have, but hasnt excelled either. So coulda goe elsewhere. Rio has been good and before the Vudic injury, he and VDSar looked excellent. We had the best defensive record in the premiership. Theyve looked a lal shaky (when fit) since we lost Vidic.
All in all, i wouldnt disagree with that team much. BUT, i understand the arguments.

Im exhausted. Anybody see that 2nt? If thats not exciting for a neutral, let alone a fan, I dont know what is. I think i ran all 11 K.s with Carrick. Thats gonna be some 2nd leg. Just worried what it might take out of them as Everton wont be push overs.
