In terms of technical proficiency, seeing a band like that is always impressive...but the vocals? Though I like stuff like Entombed it's too guttural and tuneless for me.

This is the best band to grace the presence of the brickyard.
And Onion, are there any support slots available at all?

Troy is getting another support band sorted in the next few days. Was speaking to him lastnight. Contact him if your wanting a slot as he is organising this whole tour.

How did this go? I was reading the local paper from my home town (Hawick) and they got 250 (!!!) people through the door for the gig there.

not quite that busy, but still fairly good turnout. bands were all pretty good too. got a bit tired of shredding after a while, but then all-out metal has never been my thing. the support band (sorry lads, can't remember your name...) had some really nice mellow moments, as did anata, that were the highlight for me (personally...) callous, as ever, were brutal as sin. great stuff! and, even better, a full set...

Hello all. Rod from Callous here. Firstly, thanks to all who turned up at Carlisle or any of the other shows and helped to make some great nights.
The opening band were Neandertahl from Manchester. First class blokes and a very, very good band, who we played with again in Manchester on the Wednesday. Check them out - they're polished and stylish grind/death.
Our set at the 'yard didn't start all that well...for unknown reasons, the trigger unit wasn't sending any signal - the triggers were sending signals to it, but it just didn't come out with anything. Attempting to fix it was what caused the delay in starting our set, and so we opted to get going using miked kicks. Nice idea to stick the mics in them actually there Bez; a good piece of contingency planning mate, as it enabled us to make a start. Of course, the monitor sound was then slightly different as we'd worked it out based on the triggered kicks, so to begin with we were a bit sketchy and tense. Then of course the unit woke up again and cut back in, thus giving us a morale boost, and then we loosened up and were On It.
Anata were sheer pros, and a bunch of excellent guys as well. The whole week was a non stop laugh (well, the odd bit of sulking here and there...there'll be a tour memoir on our website & myspace at some point), and we learned plenty, and had a damned good time.
Now Hawick was insane! There were frigging loads of people there, and what a reception they gave to both bands. Some excellent pits and general mayhem. We really were surprised by the strength of the welcome they gave. Good stuff.
So again, many thanks to all who were present. Cheers eh!
Mind your neck
Rod
