Id like to see Cursive playing the brickyard, purely cos im getting into them at the moment. I think they are fairly big in the states but play smallish venues when over here. Apparently they played a tiny pub in my hometown last yr supporting Appleseed Cast yeah as this guy says cursive would own at the brickyard but to be honest the appleseed cast would be better but i still reckon we need planes mistaken for stars/modest mouse/or pretty girls make graves playing.

Modest Mouse, amen. But they're getting played on MTV a lot, so might be too big - last gigs they did included Manchester Academy etc. Plus, they HATE touring outside of America.

From what i've heard of the new album, isaac can still write like the good ol days. There's one track on it that's very talking heads esque, which is a very good song.

Yes, GNFPWLBN isn't as good as previous Modest Mouse releases, but there are some decent songs on there, and I think it is more to do with the production - e.g. Isaac's voice doesn't sound as intimate as usual, & the guitars are really chimey, really glossy, rather than raw - than with the song-writing. For people who have only head the new album, don't dismiss them, because 'This is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about' & 'Lonesome Crowded West' are two of the best records ever made.

I don't like the fact that the singer guy is trying to be Nick Cave. Apart from that, I like the album.

i think that the new album has completely diminished Modest Mouses sumblime track record. apart from the Fruit That Ate Itself. which is also a bit wank. i bought it hoping that Float On was just some freak shit track they decided to release, because y'know, they had a complete lapse of brain function or something. but nah, the album as a whole is a let down. sometimes it sounds like a comedy album. and the production is shit. yes.
Moon & Antartica and Lonesome Crowded West are their best. Theyve also done Sad Sappy Sucker and This is A Long Drive... and building nothing out of something.

I like the 30 or so seconds of the album with the harpsichord and the cryin.

apart from the Fruit That Ate Itself. which is also a bit wank. No it isn't. It's a good EP. Just the thirty second long backwards tracks are annoying. But there are three of their best songs on there. This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About and Lonesome Crowded West are their best albums. They have 5 EPs, or something. But yeah. New record. Bit shit.
