what's people's thoughts and have i missed anyone?
i think fading face has a lot of potential but it's early days.

The only reason Carlisle gets new bands these days is if existing bands change their name. I mean, I'm not at the Brickyard a lot, I'm away half the year but I haven't seen any "new blood" in months or years.
I like fading face though.

Upon Bitter Ground (granted they are made up of other defunct band members...) Hollowpoint Turbyne Warped Memories The Lost Boys (old members of Trinket Box plus some new ones I think...) Anowrexyia (now based in Falkirk mind...) Blind Mountain Sadie Hawkins Dance Markets and Fayres Sidestep Switchblade Hope For the Addict
all pretty good new-ish local bands, but as regards existing bands I'm waiting eagerly for new material from Last Dance Massacre, Reluctant to Speak and Kyra
going to see Stars of Track & Field on sunday!

Upon Bitter Ground (granted they are made up of other defunct band members...) Dan (our guitarist) is actually the only member who has played in a now completely defunct local band. Which was Kolobos. The rest of us have either been in/or are still in bands which are still going strong (SZJ, Callous etc). But back on topic, I'd have to agree with the comments made, there really doesn't seem to be many new bands popping up on the scene these days.

I thought your drummer was in Kolobos too..? didnt know SZJ were still on the go! tho I havent lived in west cumbria for a few years!
I remember seeing some okay local bands at the Tithe Barn last year but I havent heard of them since, Hope From the Addict stuck in my mind
tho you're all right, for a city this size i thought there would be more bands around the scene. but maybe there are and they havent had gigs yet..?

everyone seems to have missed Manatees. Thats my vote for best new bands. And they are a new band. Its new tunes and completely different direction, executed brutally well, and to deserved national acclaim. If yous wanna see/hear some great local music get yourselves to the Brickyard next saturday night (24th). Tauntra, Tree House Infidels and ourselves supporting OPM. Even if your'e understandably unenthused by the prospect of OPM, the entry cost is worth seeing Tauntra and THI on the same set. And SOT&F will be playing some new tunes too, a progression from last years material. Back on the subject, I have enjoyed watching Cedar Tree when theyve played when ive been working, i think theres some good ideas in amongst the (at times overly) repetative riffage. I reckon they'll keep getting better. Oh and of course Adfinem...they just keep rocking my world year in, year out. I made Greg a flag once. But he stuck it on Bez's back.

You're right, Mikey was originally the drummer for Kolobos too, but he's no longer with us (not deceased, just not a member of the band).
And yeah, SZJ are still on the go. They've just recruited a new guitarist I think..
Actually, the only 'new' local band I can remember hearing recently was Host, made up of ex-members of Deadspace. They sounded Muse-tastically good.

mm.. it's pretty good, but the song with drummage and strings seems to go out of time a fair bit. the recording style for the non-accompanied song sounds really good though, fits the style ver well.

very bizzare to return here for the first time in months to find i am being talked about. to the genleman above, that song was only up for a day cause it was a demo and obviously i dont actually have strings in my songs as the only recording equipment i can afford at present is plugging in my loopstation through the line in on my computer so the bits that sound like strings are just guitar loops layerd with reverb that i've reversed. it's quite amusing for me to be referd to as new blood because i've been doing this for nearly four years now, mind you up until about 2 years ago i was shite (even though at the time my ego deluded me in to thinking that what i was doing was good) check out me new tunes. www.myspace.com/fadingface
